HR DIRECTOR

POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading, directing and evaluating the human resource function at each facility across the company. They will also be responsible for collaborating with senior leadership in the implementation of the organizations mission and people strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS

  • Leading and developing the Plant HR teams and responsible for managing the daily HR activities at the plant level.
  • Coordinates hourly recruitment efforts including confirming hiring needs with Plant HR Teams and coordinating use of staffing agencies.
  • Works with all plants to coordinate plans to lower turnover, increase engagement and advance company cultural goals.
  • Leads organizations persity and inclusiveness policy and practices.
  • Ensures consistent application of company policies, including administration of attendance points policy; issuing written discipline documents; investigating alleged misconduct; and coaching plant leadership on disciplinary matters.
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars.
  • Maintains organizational charts and employee directory.
  • Works with all unions to maintain compliance with any CBAs.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Participates in unemployment hearings when necessary.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as may be determined by the VP of Human Resources.

  • Leadership and Navigation: Possess strategic awareness and the ability to lead a team to meet strategic goals.
  • Relationship Management: Able to inspire, influence and develop other people.
  • Ethical Practice: Demonstrates the highest levels of ethics and credibility

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITY

This position manages all plant human resources personnel and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • PHR / SHRM-CP/SCP certificate
  • 5 or more years functioning as an HR Manager in a similarly sized company
